The Giguiere family, founders of R.H. Phillips, has been farming and ranching inthe Dunnigan Hills of California since 1946.
The Dunnigan Hills American Viticultural Area lies thirty miles due east of Calistoga on the eastern side of the Coast Range mountains. The Mediterranean climate allows for a long, dry growing season. Many R.H. Phillips wines are estate bottled and express the character of the land, with bright fruit flavors and approachable tannins. R.H. Phillips has long been a pioneer in warm weather viticulture and has research staff in both viticulture and enology devoted to finding the best ways to grow and vinify winegrapes in the Dunnigan Hills.
The R.H. Phillips winemaking team, led by Barry Bergman, produces wines for four distinct lines. Toasted Head showcases the best fruit from vineyards within the appellation aged in the finest toasted-head oak barrels. EXP: this line represents the company's exploration into growing and producing Mediterranean varietals—syrah, viognier, and tempranillo. R.H. Phillips offers classic varietals at value prices.
